Description
18th Century Antique pair of Chinese gilt bronze chess jars, from private collections of Mrs. E. B. Greppo, of Los Angeles, CA., by inheritance. Acquired from H. Taylor Curtis Co. Salesroom on 915 W. Seventh St., Los Angeles. Behalf S. KAJIWARA of 939 W. 7th St. Los Angeles, CA; during Oriental Works of Art rare and valuable Antiquities sales commencing on February 1924. Repoussed in two bulbous form hollowed vessels, rounded shoulder gently tapered toward short neck leading to a wide opening. The exterior elaborately decorated with relief of vigorous dragons amidst dense of scrolling clouds. Banded with key fret pattern on the rim. Extensive trace of gilt.

Mark on base, incised four script -KaiShu- characters reign mark, enclosed by square frame border, QianLong Reign Period.

Dimensions: 4-3/4" H x 6" Dia. (each)

PROVENANCE:
From private collections of Mrs. E. B. Greppo, of Los Angeles, CA., by inheritance. Acquired from H. Taylor Curtis Co. Salesroom on 915 W. Seventh St., Los Angeles. Behalf S. KAJIWARA of 939 W. 7th St. Los Angeles, CA; during Oriental Works of Art rare and valuable Antiquities sales commencing on February 1924.
The E. B. Greppo family's collections can be found on Lot-104 through Lot-113, and Lot-150, 151, 154, 158, 159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 170, 171, 305, 307, 308, and 314.
Condition
Excellent condition, with normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dent. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding. Normal, considering ages and wears.
