A beautiful Roman marble head of an enraptured Venus, c. 2nd Century AD, likely once part of a paired statue with Pan. The goddess of love's head tilted slightly back and to the left in an expression of pure delight, her eyes looking upwards, her lips in full bloom, and her hair trailing down her back. The neck with the telltale rings of Venus. Height of head alone: 4 3/4 in (12.2 cm); Mounted on marble stand: 10 3/8 in (26.5 cm). Light deposits. A truly delightful piece!!! Ex Estate of Hope N.
