A pair of ancient Egyptian carnelian amulets, Late Period, c. 664-30 BC, the first a papyrus pillar amulet and the other an uncertain type, perhaps an unfinished phallic amulet. Largest: 2.1 cm. Ex Boston Museum of Fine Arts, de-accession; previously in the collection of Horace L. Mayer who loaned and gifted items to the museum throughout the 1930's-60's. After his passing much of his remaining collection was gifted to the museum.
