Description: 19th Century porcelain 'Piano Baby'. German original, handpainted baby boy figurine. Very nice bisque and modeling a dark-haired young lad. The atire, fingers and toes are well sculpted with bisque layered under the painted parts unlike late Japanese reproductions. Most likely Gebruder Heubach but is unmarked and un-numbered. Piano babies were created to decorate pianos. Mostly popular in the late 1880s to 1890s, they were still made into the early 1900s.
