Anton Bruehl (1900-1982) was a leading German photographer in the 1920's and 30's and one of the first to work in color. He moved to America in 1919 to work as an electrical engineer, but soon quit his engineering job to become a photographer. His best-known body of work produced outside the studio was published as Mexico (1933), a book of black-and-white photographs of life and people in Mexican towns.
