Satirical Advertisement Card. Artist's depiction of a NAVY sailor who appears to be enjoying himself much. This appears to be a drinking establishment's way of luring in sailors on shore leave. Cryptic text includes, "Come in, The Water's Fine - Guests Who Prefer Ginger Pop--Wink". A book on American slang printed in 1890 reveals that ginger pop refers to ginger beer. I presume that the '06 arsenal is regarding the location of the drinking establishment. Possibly this is prohibition era. The card appears to be made by a local artist and the message is somewhat mysterious. Initials "WSK" printed in the artwork on lower right. Please see scans and make your own interpretation. Approximate card size is 4-1/4" x 7". Condition: corner crease, light soiling and light edge wear. mounting residue on back.
