Circa 1876 CDV (carte-de-visite) Photograph; Identification on mount, "COMMODORE LEWIS. Is 20 yrs. of age, weighs 18 pounds, and is 28 in. high". Photograph by Rockfellow of Columbus, Ohio. Research indicates that John "The Commodore" Lewis was from Watertown, Wisconsin. Although sought after, he never exhibited. Lewis died in 1881; partial text on his tombstone reads, "The smallest man on record". (A scarce view less often encountered than many other little people.). Condition: light surface soiling, minor edge wear.
