Near East, ca. mid to late 19th century CE. A lovely earthtone wool rug, rectangular in form and comprised of tightly-woven yarns, displaying a gorgeous design in hues of orange, red, black, brown, white, and blue. A series of crosshatch, triangular, and linear designs comprise the peripheral section, with fringes on the two longest sides - the other two sides with wrapped edges. The decorative interior program, surrounded by a border of repeating V-shaped white designs, showcases a series of abstract quadrilateral forms flanking each corner of broad and square-shaped blocks. A white-and-red stepped diamond graces the epicenter of the rug, and finalizes the wonderful designs which embellish this antique textile! Size: 28" W x 24.625" H (71.1 cm x 62.5 cm).
