This Shotei original lifetime woodblock print depicts a sweet night scene by lantern light, with a young girl in front of an insect seller's shop. The salesman is seated out front under a sign, which lists the insects for sale. The figures are in silhouette, in superb definition, in a classic style for Shotei's evening and night prints. This print was published by Watanabe Publishers in 1936, and is shown in the 1936 Watanabe Catalog, #229. It is sealed 'Hiroaki', and is ink stamped '0229' on the verso, its number from the Watanabe catalog, and guaranteed to be an authentic Shotei woodblock print. It measures 15" high by 6.5" wide, and is tipped in its original matte.
