Fletcher Martin (Am. 1904-1979), High, Wide and Handsome, lithograph 13 1/4 x 9 1/2, signed lower right: Fletcher Martin. Martin is a native of Palisades, Colorado, and was a popular painter in San Francisco for his paintings of rodeos, bowing and other phases of indigenous American life scenes. He was the recipient of the first prize at the All-California Exhibition. His works can be found in the following permanent collections: Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the San Francisco Museum, the Library of Congress and the Denver Museum. He was also an artist for Life Magazine documenting battles in North Africa in 1943.
