1866 1st Edition: Memorial Address on the Life and Character of Abraham Lincoln by Bancroft This is an antique first edition, printed transcript of “The Memorial Address on the Life and Character of Abraham Lincoln, Delivered, at the request of Both Houses of the Congress of America, Before Them, in the House of Representatives at Washington, on the 12th of February 1866, by George Bancroft. “Published by the Government Printing Office, 1866, Washington. A frontispiece portrait of Lincoln is credited as having been engraved and printed at The Treasury Office. Dark brown pebble cloth over hard boards, gilt title on cover, ex-libris copy South End Reading Room, back end papers have a library pocket and due date plate affixed, foxing to various degrees throughout book, 69 pages inclusive of appendix, library catalogue number hand written neatly on title page, light shelf wear, corner rubbing has removed some cover cloth front top and bottom cover corner, spine and binding tight. 6 x 9 inches
