This is an ex-library copy of the first state/first edition of James T. Farrell's The Young Manhood of Studs Lonigan (412 pages), the second novel in the Studs Lonigan trilogy, with the errata page laid-in at the start of Section One. The cover (5.75" x 8.25") is sunned and scuffed, with a slightly slanted spine that is frayed to its top edge, and with shallow bumps to the outside corners (see photo). There are library ink stamps to the first and last pages, and the residue of a card pocket on the back inside cover. There are two library numbers - one front, one back - in ink. There are no other stamps and, I believe, no other writing. There is foxing to the page edges and there are occasional light stains to the page faces. Almost all page faces have no stains. Several pages have shallow edge wear - creases or shallow chips. Most have none. The binding is secure, with no loose or missing pages. There are few creases and no substantial tears. All the text is clean and unfaded. Bookseller Inventory # 885
