Early Fire Mark C 1860 Cast Iron 11 1/4"H X 6 15/16"W X 1 1/8"D Fire Association of Philadelphia fire mark, deeply convex relief cast, depicting entwined fire hose, dispensing water out of hydrant, flanked by initials "F A". Worn early painted surface, oxidized. The Fire Association of Philadelphia was formed in 1817. Fire marks were used to signify insured homes, displaying their priority, in event of fire.
