Outstanding grouping brought to the United States by the widow and son of Feldwebel Hans Hassemer, an Honor Goblet recipient, who fought in the Spanish Civil War and flew a Luftwaffe Dornier M215 in North Africa and then was killed in Italy in 1944. Grouping consists of: Hassemer's 4 button tropical tunic with minor field repairs made by Almi of Luxemburg. Shoulder straps are unterofizier rank piped in yellow representing flight. Trousers are luftwaffe straight leg trousers well marked on the interior. A very rare Luftwaffe tropical belt & buckle with keeper, Luftwaffe tropical overseas cap marked Berlin 1942 size 58, Italian pith helmet with Italian Fascist insignia and Luftwaffe tropical insignia, two pair of Luftwaffe flight goggles and white faced wrist compass, and Luftwaffe yellow flight scarf. This helmet chronicles all of the places in North Africa and Italy that he served. Two photo albums beginning with training up to just before his death. Approximately 300 photographs including several crash photographs and views of Hassemer in his airplane. Documents include his Aryan birthright, birth certificates of past family members, his transmittal Honor Goblet document and his formal Honor Goblet document. He was awarded the goblet on September 18, 1942. His Luftwaffe pilot's badge document, 1st & 2nd class iron cross documents, bronze, sliver & gold bomber clasp documents, a handmade unit history for the Legion Flamingo, and period hand drawn artwork & postcards of the Dornier M215. Medals include his Luftwaffe 1st & 2nd class iron cross, FB &L marked bronze flight spange, his silver unmarked tombac flight clasp, and his S&S marked gold flight spange with rosette. Nazi black wound badge, DKL marked Nazi stickpin, his West Front medal and finally his cased Luftwaffe Pilot's badge in tombac. His Luftwaffe leather navigation satchel includes his flight computer, Illuminated flight pencil, and other navigational equipment. Books include 1941 Luftwaffe calendar, 1937 Luftwaffe handbook, Luftwaffe book on propellers and motors, a book on the Kriegsmarine inscribed with his son's name, and a modern book on the Luftwaffe. excellent
