Details: Large Collection WORLD WAR I PHOTOGRAPHS AND POSTCARDS 20th Century Military Navy Serviceman Personal Historic Photographs Travel Exploration
This group features a large collection of real photo postcards and photographs that were taken and collected by George A. David, a serviceman stationed in Europe during World War I who was originally from Schenectady, New York. These images were on display at the museum in Sidney, New York for many years.
The images catalogue David's travels with the military during WWI and include stops made in Egypt, Italy, London, Austria, Russia, and several other locales. One image purports to show a scene from the scuttling of the German fleet in Scapa Flow.
The photographs and postcards in this group are mostly small in size, the largest of them measures approximately 5.5" x 3.25" and the smallest measures approximately 4.25" x 2.5".
