Gould, John. British (1804-1881). Richter, Henry C., British, (1821-1902). 10 hand-colored lithographs from "The Birds of Asia", London, by the Author, 1850 - 83. The plates are: Suthora Nipalensis (Black-throated parrotbill) ++ Perdicula Asiatica (Jungle Bush-quail) ++ Perdicula Argoondah (Rock Bush-quail) ++ Cursorius Coromandelicus (Indian Courser) ++ Hydrophasianus Sinensis (Chinese Jacana) ++ Trichoglossus Pusillus (Little Lorikeet) ++ Gallinula Phoenicura (White breasted water-hen) ++ Muscipeta Paradisi (Paradise Flycatcher) ++ Pteroglossus Mariae (Duchess of Leuchtenberg's Aracari/Brown-mandibled Aracari) ++ Suya Lepida (Graceful Prinia). The final four have the text description pages also. All plates measure approximately 15" x 22".
Provenance: From the collection of Jim Willis.
Condition: All plates are very good to near fine; a little toning around the edges and some edges are ragged and/or perforated where they were removed from the book. The Little Lorikeet has a small section missing from the top left hand corner.
