  • 6420 Carabo
  • Designer Marcello Gandini (Alfa Romeo)
  • Ira Gilford (Hot Wheels)
  • Production Run: 1970-1971
  • Carabo was a car in the 1970 Hot Wheels series. It was designed by Ira Gilford based on the 1968 Alfa Romeo Carabo Concept car. Opening scissor doors. Orange paint on the nose. Assorted Spectraflame paint. Released from Hong Hong and United States. Both can be found with white interior. This car was Mattel's first experiment with vertical opening doors. Based on how many times they have used this feature since then, they were not very successful. Because the metal used for the doors is so thin, the doors are very fragile, being hard to open or very prone to breaking in half completely.standard black interior, gull wing doors (one missing). Note: Keep an eye out for both U.S. and Hong Kong versions with white interiors. These are more difficult to find than the standard black interior, and do add a premium. Priced accordingly. NCWHA RATING 3.
