FRANCE, 18TH CENTURY A fine French Louis XVI carved and gilt wood mounted Chinese embroidered silk folding screen. The silk textile is decorated with a stylized gold and/or silver threaded bat and butterfly pattern amongst florals over a red ground. The silk is mounted in a period Chinoiserie Louis XVI frame with reticulated acanthus leaf and tendril header panels.


Each panel measures 57" by 22 1/4", silk panels measure 48 1/2" by 20 1/2"

Condition

Overall very good condition, threading in good condition, the back showing some tattering to the silk to one side and missing to the other.
