A small bronze cauldron with domed underside, repoussé flange below the rim, two lateral D-shaped pierced suspension lobes; incised frieze comprising a pair of opposed birds, a pouncing feline, a tree, a gryphon, two wolves, a bird and a regardant wolf. 390 grams, 17.5cm (6 3/4"). Property of a UK gentleman; formerly in an old German collection; acquired in the 1980s.
