7th century AD. A flat-section gold hoop formed as a braided band with ropework borders, granule cluster to each shoulder, discoid bezel with openwork filigree dome. Cf. Chadour, A.B. Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, items 494, 496 for type.2.58 grams, 20mm overall, 15.06mm internal diameter (approximate size British H 1/2, USA 4, Europe 7.12, Japan 7) (3/4"). Property of an Alberta gentleman; formerly in a Canadian collection formed in the 1980s.
