GLENDENING, Alfred Augustus Sr. or Jr. (British, circa 1840-1910 or 1861-1903 or 1907): "Richmond Hill from Twickenham on the Thames" or "Richie Scene on the Thames, Richmond Hill in Distance", oil on canvas, approx. 8 inches high x 15 inches wide (7.625 x 14.625 inches visible sight dimensions, 15.5 x 22.5 x 3 inches overall framed dimensions), monogrammed A.A.G. and dated 87.8 presumably for August, 1887 lower left, above title referencing Twickenham in pencil on stretchers, above title using Richie designation on original or period label in ink on backing label, St. Louis, MO, USA period or early framing label on backing. Period, likely original American installed acanthus gilt frame molding with gilt liners.
Provenance: Prominent New York estate including British, French and Russian Beaux Arts and Belle Epoch period holdings, name witheld by request.
