Good wall papered bandbox decorated with sheep, dog, cow, sheep herder, and various shrubbery around the sides of box - the lid is signed in black ink by "Mrs. Conover", and is decorated with a scene of a young boy handing grapes to a gentleman seated at a Queen Anne tea table with wife. Small loss to top of lid on bottom corner, some soiling, 2 small breaks in the paper on the apron of the lid, loose threads around perimeter of base, normal use wear and in good overall condition. Early 19th century. 18"L x 13"W x 11.5"H. Provenance: From the locally historic Abraham E. VanWagner homestead, being in the same Dutchess County NY family for 7 generations including the Calvin G. Smith family and descendants.
