A SURVEY OF THE COAST OF THE UNITED STATES, A HAND COLORED NAUTICAL CHART, "Preliminary Chart of the Sea Coast of Texas in the Vicinity of Galveston," 1856, an early nautical chart of Galveston Bay and the portion of the Gulf of Mexico fronted by Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula, with detailed sailing directions, notes, tides, remarks, and winds printed in the upper left quadrant. Lithographic print on paper, signed LL "Redd. Drng. by A. Balbach A. Schoepf & W. Wagner," LR "Engd, by J.V.N. Throop & R.T. Knight," UR "Lith of J. Bien 50 Fulton St. N.Y.;" sheet size: 24 7/8" x 18 7/8".

Condition

The folded sheet with browning along the creases, area of paper loss along upper left quadrant fold, minor foxiing.
