Lot 0096
A GEORGE III MAHOGANY WRITING DESK, 18TH/19TH CENTURY, the rectangular top within an ebonized applied edge, over a wide skirt, fronted by two inset drawers, raised on square, ebonized line inlaid, tapered legs. Height: 30 Width: 37 3/4 Depth: 19 1/2

Top has apparent repairs, glue residue, surface scratches, faded spots within the finish, some loss of applied ebonized edge, and is likely not original. The flanking side skirts both have approximately two inch horizontal cracks along the grain, near the front leg joints, and expected surface wear on legs, original casters and cups now lacking. A later finish appears to have likely been applied, the whole has an apparent 20th century restoration, and the drawer pulls were likely added later. Overall in stable, very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
