AN EGYPTIAN REVIVAL MAHOGANY PARTNER'S DESK, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, POSSIBLY ENGLISH, the rectangular top inset with a gilt tulip and palm tooled, brown leather writing surface, within a quadruple bead carved edge, over eight breakfront frieze drawers, fronted by a relief bound reed motif, surmounting two sarcophagus form pedestals, with four inset panel, trapezoidal doors, lined with egg and dart trim, flanked by engaged bound, feathered arrow form stiles, and inset trapezoidal side panels centering an oval floret issuing bellflowers and acorns, raised on acanthus carved, shackled, hairy paw feet with scrolled ends, joined by a repeating wave and tulip motif skirt, one drawer stamped with the number 1518. Locks, escutcheons, and some hardware likely replaced. Cupboard doors locked, no key. One hairy paw with apparent break and repairs. The leather top has some discoloration, mild scratches and expected wear. There are expected surface scratches, mild dents, abrasions and occasional losses throughout. Some losses of applied molding near the outermost areas. Overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
