A MONUMENTAL PAIR OF REGENCY STYLE MAHOGANY BOOKCASES, EARLY-MID 20TH CENTURY, in the Neoclassical taste, the molded pointed arched pediment over applied molding above a wide flat frieze over open adjustable shelving flanked by carved Ionic capitals, modeled after the ancient Greek Erechtheum capitals from the Temple of Athena on the Necropolis, above fluted turned columns on ring turned socles, on a breakfront surmount with a cavetto and lotus bud carved frieze, on supports with inset panels and bead carved liners flanking a cupboard door centering an applied rosette within an applied scrolling reserve with palmette corners, raised on a like cavetto and lotus bloom carved plinth base. Height: 154" Width: 69" Depth: 30"

Some scratches throughout, mild expected surface wear, occasional chips, later drill holes for electrification, replaced boards, possibly lacking marble tops, likely originally built into a structure and later modified to be freestanding, but overall in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
