DESCRIPTION: An antique Italian savonarola chair. Features carved lion paw motif feet, supporting the convex ribs, further carved with scrolled Rococo floral motifs below the seat. The armrests are carved with nude, female winged angels, enveloped by acanthus leaves. the ends of the armrests are carved with tetes des lions, one missing a dangling iron ring in its jaws. Finished with an intricately carved back panel of winged anglo-dragons, 2 rampant lions flanking the profile of an elder woman, and carved throughout with scrolled Rococo floral motifs. The back of the panel is engraved with winged dragons, scrolled rococo floral motifs and two rampant lions flanking a fleur du lis. Finished with an engraved seat with a rampant griffin motif.
