Scarce true first printing, with large color prints, some double page, throughout. Page facing the title states: "First Printing, 1954. Printed in Holland from the original lithographs by Piet Worm..." Piet Worm wrote approximately 35 books for children, most of which he also illustrated. The adventures of the three little horses were his biggest success; tales originally told as bedtime stories for his two daughters. Worm was the co-editor of the children's magazine "De Fontein" for which he illustrated the comic "Professor Zegellak."

Condition

Light wear and soiling to boards with rubbing to extremities, corners worn and lightly bumped; decorative bookplate on front free endpaper with no name attached, interior colors bright; very good.
