1624 Works of VIRGIL Bucolics Georgics Aeneid Mythology Latin Poelmann Plantin
“If I cannot move heaven, I will raise hell.”
― Virgil, The Aeneid
An extremely rare and valuable 17th-century edition of the works of Virgil. Edited by Theodor Poelmann, this 1624 printing features all three of Virgil’s most famous works – ‘Bucolics,’ ‘Georgics,’ and ‘The Aeneid.’ Peolmann was a well-known 16th-century philologist who was an expert in ancient languages. He gained so much recognition around Europe for his linguistics and commentaries that the Plantin Press hired him and created a unique position for him as ‘Corrector’. While working under the Plantin name, he produced a great number of small editions of classic authors such as Virgil.
