CHARCOAL SKETCH "SUBWAY RIDER" SIGNED BASQUIAT (JEAN-MICHEL 1960-1988 NY, NY) One of Five (5) Jean-Michel Basquiat drawings consigned from the Dawson family (Marybeth Dawson O'Hara) former wife of Shannon Dawson. Shannon was the Trumpet player for Jean-Michel's band GRAY and attended City as School with Jean-Michel 1977/78. Part of this collection can be found in the Vrej Baghoomian Basquiat catalog 1989 catalog #s 36-44 The Note-Books from this collection now reside in the YALE University Beinecke Library. All (5) lots will come with a Notarized letter from Marybeth O'Hara.
Condition
The accompanying five (5) lots in this auction will include; Notarized letter from MaryBeth O'Hara dated March 3,2018, a letter of provenance July 24,2009, Tibor De Nagy Galleries Appraisal for 14 works from this collection dated November 26,1988, Vrej Baghoomian Inventory and purchase proposal for artwork from this collection to be included in the Basquiat Catalog dated January 9,1989, assorted copies from the SAMO verses with City as School writings from Al Diaz and JM Basquiat. The Note-Books from this collection now reside in the YALE University Beinecke Library since 2012.
