This is an excellent John Deere exceedingly rare salesman sample walking plow. The antique piece is embossed on both sides of the handle, “JOHN DEERE” and shows a cast iron construction with matte and polished finish. These are exceedingly rare and unique with very few coming available for sale. The piece measures 10”L overall an is in fine to good condition for its age. James D. Julia sold the exact same piece and attributed as a Salesman Sample with an estimate of $800-$1200. James D. Julia also sold a nearly exact (with a larger blade) salesman sample walking plow with an all polished finish and a FFA chapter plaque that sold for $1,000. Some have attributed similar walk behind plows by John Deere as being manufactured by Vindex and as Salesman Sample Dealer give-a-away with a very limited production.
