Taino Bird Man Effigy, c. 1000-1500 AD. Bird men were usually Taino shaman, the name deriving for their ability to transverse the cosmos while under the influence of the hallucinogen cohoba. Birds were their principle ally. Size: 1.5'' x 2.75'' x 4'' (4 x 7 x 10 cm). Provenance: Larry Roberts, author of Taino Sculpture: Art of the Gods.
