China, Circa 1750-1800
Armorial Reticulated Ovoid Platter Catalogue Note: The crest with snarling wolf's head and crowns in a shield surrounded by flowers and topped by a fist and cradled by "RADICUM FIRMANT FRONDES" (Strengthen their roots and branches) banner refers to the need to better control colonies. The seal of the state of Connecticut, with its "QUI TRANSULIT, SUSTINET" (That which is transplanted, sustains) motto, was intended as a direct contradiction of such statements.
