Lot 0161
A good Chinese porcelain wucai quatrefoil box and cover. Both sections enamelled with two dragons amongst peony, each part with projecting rim having polychrome 'greek key' decoration, bears underglaze blue six-character mark beneath for Wanli, (1572-1620) within parallel borders, 6.25 square x 3 high, (16cm x 7.5cm).For a similar example, see Christie's House Sale, New York, 7th-8th September 2005 lot 444.

Minor rubbing to cover. Small flake loss to unglazed rim of lower section, barely noticeable when cover is on. Sold with a softwood travel box having 20th century Chinese label referencing Jiaqing, (1796-1820).Label to wooden box is apparently post-1950 due to use of some simplified characters, thus may not necessarily be original to the porcelain box.Provenance - private overseas (not Chinese) collection.
