Pre-Columbian, probably Peru, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A finely carved llama bone pendent of white and almond beige hues, depicting a figure with a ghoulish, ghost-like visage comprised of partially drilled round eyes, an overhanging forehead, a closed slit mouth, petite ears, and a caplike coiffure - holding its four-fingered hands to its chest. The piece is drilled behind the head for suspension. Size: 2.625" H (6.7 cm); 3.25" H (8.3 cm) on included custom stand.
