Two volumes bound together: xxxvi + fold-out illustration, Dell' Inferno and Del Purgatorio 1-288, Del Purgatorio and Del Paradiso 1-319. Bookplate of Alfredo Toaff affixed to inside front cover. A few engravings facing title pages.

Provenance: Estate of Huguette Clark

Notes/Literature: Huguette Marcelle Clark (1906-2011) was an heiress and philanthropist, who became well known again late in life as a recluse, living in a hospital for more than 20 years while her mansions remained empty. She was an accomplished artist and musician, having studied under famous portrait painter Tadeusz Styka, and her paintings were exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington in 1925

Fair, bottom of spine torn, a few small insect holes in back cover go through rear third of pages but do not affect text, light foxing throughout, front joint loose, be advised that all lots in this sale will exhibit some degree of wear due to age and/or handling
