BOOKS: (9) Vols Vintage Japan Travel & Photos, 9 volumes including 2 bound volumes of "Travel in Japan" magazine from the first issue in 1935 through VI, no 4, 1941 in leather and cloth hardcover bindings; several titles with all Japanese text and color and/or black and white photos; Japanese Views and Characters by T. Takagi, Japan with color photos; set of photo-books in a Japanese folder from East-West 1949, missing the "Geisha" booklet, but other 13 present; Le Japan Pratique in poor binding with detached covers; and Yamata, Le Japon des Japonais in fine orange leather and decorated paper binding.

Provenance: Estate of Huguette Clark

Notes/Literature: Huguette Marcelle Clark (1906-2011) was an heiress and philanthropist, who became well known again late in life as a recluse, living in a hospital for more than 20 years while her mansions remained empty. She was an accomplished artist and musician, having studied under famous portrait painter Tadeusz Styka, and her paintings were exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington in 1925.
