BOOKS: (10) Vols Japanese Literature in English, 10 volumes including 2 boxed sets of The Tale of Genji by Lady Murasaki, Houghton Mifflin, 1935; 1 boxed set of The Tale of Genji, Knopf, 1977, Major Plays of Chikamatsu, Columbia, 1961; Japanese Fairy Tales, Hokuseido, 1938; Harunobu by Yone Noguchi, Mathews & Dai-ichi, 1927, bound in Japanese style, from a limited edition of 500 copies with color plate tipped in and black and white illustrations.

Provenance: Estate of Huguette Clark

Notes/Literature: Huguette Marcelle Clark (1906-2011) was an heiress and philanthropist, who became well known again late in life as a recluse, living in a hospital for more than 20 years while her mansions remained empty. She was an accomplished artist and musician, having studied under famous portrait painter Tadeusz Styka, and her paintings were exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington in 1925
