This item depicted in the images below is an EXTREMELY rare German WW2 Spanish Cross in Gold without swords, marked L/13. This award was issued to members of the 'Condor Legion'. The Condor division was a German unit that half secretly fought in the Spanish Civil War between 1936-1940. The Legion Condor tested many of the weapons later on used in the Blitzkrieg campaigns between 1939-1941. The item is in excellent condition and marked on the back. The Spanish Cross was issued to personnel who served in combat units or other direct military actions. Size is 56 x 56 mm, weight is 25.75 gm. REFERENCEs: Detlev Niemann in “Price Guide. Orders and decorations Germany†2004, page 446 and Jorg Nimmergut in “Deutchland Katalog†2005/2006, page 508 does not have this unique gold Cross without swords. I founded this cross only in Lothar Hartung catalogue “Auszeichnungen des 3. Reichesâ€, Spezialkatalog 2001/2002, item #4/1, catalogue price 6000 DM (in 2000 year!! Today is 2018), almost in three times more expensive then gold cross with swords!! You can see the scan of this catalogue on the screenshots.
