Metzkes, William Ferdinand (American/Western Pennsylvania, b. 1884), Westinghouse Memorial in Schenley Park, circa 1930, oil on masonite panel, 16 x 20 inches, signed and titled on a paper label attached to the reverse, Metzkes was born in 1884 to German immigrant parents in Pennsylvania (likely Pittsburgh), Most of William Ferdinand Metzkes work is associated with Pittsburgh. He attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology and is recorded in the 1910 census as a "Decorator, Stenciler, Painter" living with his wife and in-laws in Pittsburgh. His draft registration card in 1918 also records him as a "painter". framed in a period Art Nouveaux frame measuring 19.5 x 23 inches
