Western Africa, Togo, Adan peoples, ca. 20th century CE. A small, hand-carved wooden divination placard with a dual-lobed body reminiscent of a guitar, a forked top portion, and a squat neck. The item is colored in a bichrome color scheme, with one half displaying a chalky-white kaolin pigment, and the other half a naturally-occurring indigo pigment. The body displays five hammered metal pins, with three in the center and one on either lateral side. Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 6.5" H (16.5 cm); 7.25" H (18.4 cm) on included custom stand.
