Color limited edition 30 x 44 screenprint by Peyton Scott Russell, entitled 'Earth Spine,' numbered 4/6, signed in the lower border in pencil by the artist, "Peyton," and marked with a copyright date of 1999. This blue, white, and pink artwork portrays a symbolic human spine: if turned into a horizontal position, the spine becomes a horizon line with things that grow above the ground and roots below the ground. From a series of prints that explored the human anatomy superimposed in nature. In fine condition.
Minneapolis-based graffiti artist Peyton Scott Russell is especially well-known for his association with Prince, who he first met during the 1990s. Peyton was given the opportunity to exhibit his work at Prince's Glam Slam nightclub beginning in 1993. In 1996, Peyton was commissioned to help redecorate Paisley Park for Prince's wedding to Mayte Garcia. Peyton's impressive large-format prints offer a fusion of Warhol-esque technique with a distinctly modern aesthetic.
