A wonderful presentation torch made by a Bridgeport Connecticut Ordinance Company. It even look like a brass artillery shell! It stands 15" tall. It has a brass body with copper handle and tip. It is engraved, "S. W. KIRK B of LE 301 PRESENTED BY A. P. ASH". B of LE is Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, a well know fraternal organization. The bottom has great markings of UMC (Union Metallic Company). It also has Driggs Ordinance Co Bridgeport Conn. Our consignor provided notes on these two company's: Union Metallic = 1867 - 1911. Driggs Ordinance Co = 1899 - 1905. This dates the torch to the 1899 - 1905 time frame. It is unclear when it was engraved. A very nice piece with no major dings or scrapes.
