Lot 0182
Bonnet with satin striped cream silk trim and bavolet, the bavolet having a fine band of braided straw, brim edged in straw embroidery on a stiff net foundation, underside of brim decorated with pleated cream lace and cloth roses, ivory satin ties, label "Witherell, Great Neck, NY", 10 x 11 x 6, (much of the straw bands are unstitched, losses to trim and flowers) fair. Wide-brim hat having velvet band and bow with streamers and pink and green flowers, underbrim covered in pleated green silk faille, silk lining, depicted in Doris Langley Moore's, "The Child in Fashion", plate XXI, DLM tag, 10 1/2 x 12 x 2 3/4, (some discoloration to silk). Together with a girl's white cotton hat c. 1900 having ruched and corded wide brim with eyelet border, puffed crown with lace insert, self ties, 14 x 3, (minor browning, hat is decorated with a half band of velvet ribbons and plastic daisies of a later date). Good-very good.
