Black oval having flat crown and turned-up brim, lined with ostrich plumes, silk lining. Label "L. Leopold Emmelhainz Nachf/Wiesbaden", Purchased at Christie's Auction July 11, 1967 lot 157. Helen Larson called this auction the "Queen's Auction" due to so many objects with royal provenance in the sale. The ensemble was part of a larger group of objects cataloged as follows: "The majority of the following dresses were the property of the late Princess Marie Elizabeth of Wied of Schloss Monrepos, Neuwied (b. 1880); many earlier dresses belonged to her grandmother, Princess Louise of Prussia", possibly belonging to Princess Marie Elizabeth of Wied of Schloss Monrepos, Neuwied (b. 1880). 10 x 15 x 4. Excellent.
