Jiajing Wucai is concerned as a representative for the moment of great prosperity. Its colors consist of rich red and bright green with brilliant presence, which is pure and beautiful. It represents a breakthrough in the firing of colored porcelain. This jar has straight mouth, short neck, bulging body, and the lower section is gradually inflated and shallowly excavated. The neck is painted with the cloud pattern of a band of ruyi heads, and a band of lotus leaf pattern is decorated near the foot. The main body of the jar is painted and separated by the dragon and phoenix. Since ancient times, the combination of dragon and phoenix has been the symbol of auspiciousness, representing a meaning of good fortune and happiness. The base is inscribed with a six-character Jiajing mark. The layout of the entire device is sparse and the style of writing is unique to the period of Jiajing and Wanli. The color materials used are red, yellow, blue and green, among which are painted blue and white. The Wucai colors are deftly designed embeded between the basic blue and white colors. The rich blueish purple color enhanced by jujube red and bright green, showing a strong contrasting combination, which makes the jar alive with vibrant energy. This jar is rich in color with neat paintings. The design of dragon and phoenix patterns added a mysterious presentation, reflecting the imperial style of that time.
