CUTLASS. Overall length: 17 1/2". Blade is marked "ORIGINAL Eickhorn SOLINGEN (squirrel). Blade is etched on both sides. 1 Side depicts a hunter shooting at a male & female elk in a forest. The other side has a boar hunting scene w/ a hunter & 4 dogs chasing a boar & a 5th dog being tossed by the boar. Silver clamshell guard is decorated w/ a grouse. Hoof crossguard is well executed & decorated w/ oak leaves. Pommel cap is also decorated w/ oak leaves on the top & around the sides. Acorn pommel nut. Silvered oak leaf decorated ferrule. Grip is stag w/ attached Nazi hunting insignia in silver. Scabbard is dark green leather w/ plated mounts. Tip is decorated w/ an elk in the forest. Top mount has an acorn finial which fits a dark brown leather frog. CONDITION: blade shows light wear w/ a few scattered areas of dark discoloration. Silver plating on hilt is nearly 100% intact. Grip is undamaged. Scabbard shows light to moderate wear but remains solid. Finish on scabbard mounts is nearly complete. Frog shows light wear. (02-11251/BF). $1,000-1,400.
