A late Victorian 15ct gold diamond and ruby brooch. Of marquise-shape outline, the old-cut diamond and circular-shape ruby panel, with cannetille surround and foliate applied sides. Length 4.8cms. Weight 5.4gms.

Condition

  • Overall condition good. Surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Some discolouration.
  • Diamond fairly bright.

  • Estimated diamond weight under 0.10ct.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Diamond with chip to one side of table.
  • Rubies are a well matched deep medium pinkish red hue, fairly well saturated.

  • Rubies in good to fair condition with minor abrasions, one with small chip to one side of the girdle.

  • Stamped 15ct.
  • Width 1.3cms, maker's marks A.W.J&Co.
