A late Victorian gold horseshoe bar brooch. The duo split pearl scalloped horseshoes, with cultured pearl terminals. Length 4cms. Weight 4.2gms.

Condition

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Bar is bent slightly out of shape.
  • With replacement base metal pin.
  • Glue residue visible to the cultured and split pearl settings.
  • Cultured and split pearls are well matched, creamy white colour, with rose and greenish overtones, in good condition with minor abrasions.

  • Without the aid of laboratory equipment, it has not been possible to determine if these cultured and split pearls are from a fresh or saltwater source.
