18 in. E. Howard Gilded Eagle Gallery Clock. 18 in. painted flame mahogany dial measures approximately half an inch thick, singed on the front "E. Howard & Co., Boston" and marked "Old Colony Railroad", which ran from Boston to the South Shore”, has black roman hour numerals and pierced decorated blued hands. Quality brass 8 day weight driven time only movement signed “E. Howard & Co., Boston” and numbered “24-73”, has an anchor escapement, maintaining power, Geneva stop, 4 solid brass pulleys, replaced weight, pendulum stick and bob. In a gallery case with gilded door bezel hinged at the top and excellent pierced carved and gilded crest with eagle and leaves. Case is in excellent condition, original gilding, back body painted in white paint, no breaks or damage; dial has a repair from 12 to 6, inpainting in the white of the dial, minimal touchup to the black paint. 39 in. high x 26 in. wide x 7.75 in. deep. Weight: 41.25 lbs.
